Clipper Montero: Triel Canine Store
by: Toni de Villa

It must be hitting that one great luck, but there’s more than just mere fortune for TRIEL CANINE STORE to get into the ladder of success. If you think that owning a cats & dogs store is unlikely to survive in this town, think again. Let’s see what the owner/proprietor, Clipper Montero, has to share not only about the business itself but learning it by heart.

So, how and when did you start this business?

It started as a hobby. Hobby naming mag-asawa ang mag-breed. Our first breed was Great Dane. And it was difficult to raise such a dog. So, we applied for dealership para makatipid. This was in January 2002. Initially, we offered dog food only and we do a “person-to-person” approach or house to house. And soon after, it became open to public and was called TRIEL CANINE STORE. It was formally opened January 21, 2002.

Just a curious question, where did you get the name TRIEL?

TRIEL is the name for our inspiration. They are our kids, Trisha and Gabriel. And we’re thinking of adding the name of our third child in the soon-to-open branch of TRIEL. We’ll name it TRIELA (the last letter A, is for our youngest whom we think is also our luck in this business)

What about your customers? Was it difficult to get a market?

For us it’s not and they’re mostly on the upper class and foreigners. Actually, foreigners were pretty amazed of the store because when they get to see items or products for their dogs in the Animal Planet, they can find it here.

What other activities are you involved with which you think furthered your business?

Right now, we have an organization/club which primary objective is to unite dog breeders and dog lovers. It’s called Quezon Kennel Club. We have an upcoming Dog Show on May 24-25 at the Perez Park, Lucena City.

What do you think is your secret of success?

Pakikisama sa clients. We also make sure that products are always available. Also, our in-house Vet Doctor is one advantage. He’s Dr. Domingo who is there for consultation. Above all, this business is a joint force between me and my wife, Bless who handles our finances while I do the Marketing. My friend BJ contributed to this business so much also. Actually, I myself was surprised with the turn of events. Others would tell me, one year pa lang kami and we already covered a lot in a year. Pero, sa akin I just grab opportunities. It is also important that you know what you do because we offer not only our products but utmost service to customers like answering their questions and helping them resolve problems with their pets

So, the next time you hear your dog howling. Fear not. It’s not sign of danger or death, it simply means your dog is lonely. Get him a dog bone to keep him busy!

That’s TRIEL CANINE STORE. They’re your dogs & cats One Stop Shop & carries ONLY the BEST for your pets! They also offer Grooming & Veterinary Consultation.

Currently, TRIEL is moving towards expansion. And they started with manufacturing their own products like Crazzy Dog, Shampoo, Triel Deo Shampoo, Triel Amino Acid & Triel Povitone Iodine. For more information, contact:
