
DON CLARO M. RECTO
- Brilliant Son of Tiaong
An
illustrious son of Tiaong known for his nationalistic ideals. He is known as the Father of
the Philippine Constitution. He was born in Tiaong, Quezon to spouses Claro Recto Sr. and
Micaela Mayo on February 8, 1890. He was popularly known as a brilliant leader, statesman,
politician, journalist and freedom lover. Representing his country on a cultural mission,
he died a foreign land on October 2, 1960 at Rome, Italy.
To perpetuate his memories
an Elementary and Secondary schools were named after him. A monument was erected in his
birthplace and his birth date was declared a holiday in Tiaong, Quezon as per PD No. 373
dated January 9, 1974 |
